BC Tourism Industry Conference
Why | How | Who
We are proud to provide offsets for the BC Tourism Industry Conference. At Offsetters.ca, we believe that your purchase of offsets should do more than just offset your direct emissions. It should also promote the mainstream adoption of next generation energy systems to get us out of the fossil fuel dependent energy systems we have today. For this reason, all Offsetters funds are invested in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects that would not have taken place without our involvement.
Domestic projects
The operation of the GSHP system saves the facility roughly 75% of the operational cost related to conventional approaches to heating and cooling service provision. However, given low energy prices in BC and high capital costs for GSHP installation the simple payback period for such projects is still over 12 years. At the time of the installation one of the factors that led to this project going forward in preference to more conventional alternatives was the high price of carbon credits in Europe and the realization that the sale of such credits in a Canadian setting would improve the payback period for this option while also demonstrating leadership in green buildings and building services.
Projects selected for this conference are groundsource heatpumps at:
Semiahoo House Foundation and Society
Seabird Island Indian Band Office
Sk'lep School, Kamloops
Piccadilly Terrace Retirement Centre, Salmon Arm
Projects have been third party validated by A.D. Williams and verification will be completed by year end.
